Nissan Magnite SUV Testing Begins Ahead of July 16 Unveil

The much-anticipated Nissan Magnite sub-4 meter SUV will make global debut on July 16, 2020. Ahead of the unveil, a fully camouflaged prototype of the compact SUV has been caught testing in Bangalore. The company has already released teaser images, which shows the possible styling of the Magnite.

The spotted model’s overall profile seems largely identical to the Magnite’s teaser images released by the Japanese brand. It features the brand’s family design, featuring sleek LED headlamps, Datsun-like hexagonal front grille with chrome surround, sculpted bonnet and massive L-shaped LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps.

The teaser images also reveal that the Magnite will have dual-tone bumper with silver faux skid plate. The spotted model was equipped with steel rims; however, the production car will have alloys or steel wheel caps. The teaser had chunky wheels, which will be changed in the production car. The Nissan Magnite will also receive bold wheel arches with black plastic cladding all around the body for rugged profile.

The Nissan Magnite compact SUV has upright position with flatter profile. The side profile has crossover-ish elements, usable roof rails, roof-integrated spoiler, sloping roofline and wrap-around tail-lamps. The Nissan Magnite compact SUV is likely to offer high seating position. In terms of features, the new model is expected to receive high-end features like 360 degree surround view camera, factory-fitted sunroof, Nissan Connect (Connected car technology), automatic AC, etc.

The Magnite is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Renault Triber MPV. In fact, the upcoming Renault Kiger will also be based on this platform. The new model will be offered with 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine in naturally-aspirated and turbocharged version. While the former is good for 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, the turbo unit offers 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed CVT.
