Nissan Magnite SUV Gets Bolder, Unique Front Design

Nissan Magnite SUV Teased

Japanese automaker, Nissan has announced to introduce 12 new cars globally in the next 18 months. The company has also released a video, showing the upcoming products. The video also has the Nissan Magnite SUV, which is scheduled to be launched before the end of this year.

Nissan India had released 2 teasers of the Magnite compact SUV, which give us a glimpse of side profile and tail-lamps. The latest teaser shows the front design of the Nissan Magnite SUV for the first time. The teaser confirms that the design of the SUV’s front is completely different from the company’s new breed of SUVs on sale globally.

Nissan Magnite Front Design

The front has bolder design with a large hexagonal grille, which resembles to one offered with Datsun products. This compact SUV was originally planned to be launched under the Datsun nameplate; however, Nissan is slowly discontinuing this nameplate from global markets. The SUV gets bolder front profile with large intakes on either side of the grille and massive L-shaped LED DRLs. In fact, the headlights look like LED units.

Lower to the bumper is a slim air-dam and faux skid plate, while chrome embellishment can be seen around the honeycomb pattern grille. The SUV has upright position with flatter profile and sculpted bonnet. The teaser also reveals that the Magnite features crossover-like side profile, featuring chunky wheel arches, black cladding and usable roof rails. Other design highlights include roof-integrated spoiler, sloping roofline and wrap-around tail-lamps.

Nissan Magnite New Teaser

The Nissan Magnite SUV is designed and developed on the CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Renault Triber MPV. This platform will also underpin the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV and the Renault LBA compact sedan. The Magnite compact SUV is reportedly to be fitted with high-end features like 360 degree surround view camera, factory-fitted sunroof, Nissan Connect (Connected car technology), automatic AC, etc.

The upcoming Nissan Magnite compact SUV will be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, the turbocharged unit produces 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
