The small SUV also features sleek headlamps, L-shaped LED DRLs and a sculpted bonnet with a horizontal beltline. The flared wheel arches with black cladding and a chunky skid plate enhance its side profile. While the concept model has been equipped with rugged scuff plate and off-road tyres, the production ready version might devoid of them.

Official interior pictures reveal that the Nissan Magnite will have enough cabin space to offer. The model has a multi-layered dashboard with different textures and lots of faux brushed aluminium. Similar to the concept, the final model might be offered with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, push button start, steering mounted audio and telephony controls, rear AC vents, a full digital instrument cluster, a rear centre armrest and powered mirror. The new Nissan compact SUV has been built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform. On the engine front, buyers will have two options – a 72bhp, 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol and a 95bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol. The latter one will be reserved for the top-end variants.

Both engines will get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. While the NA petrol variants will come with an AMT, the turbo petrol motor will get an optional CVT automatic gearbox. The same powertrains will be offered on the upcoming Renault Kiger compact SUV.

Renault-Nissan’s Tamil Nadu based plant will serve as a production hub for the new Nissan compact SUV. Reports suggest the small SUV will hit showrooms sometime in January, 2021. Its top-spec variant is likely to be priced equivalent to the fully-loaded Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza model.
