Nissan Kicks Will Soon Get An Optional CVT Gearbox

Considering the increasing demand of the automatic vehicles, Nissan India will introduce an optional CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox on the Kicks SUV model lineup. Datsun, the entry-level brand from Nissan, will also offer CVT gearbox on the Datsun Go hatchback and Datsun Go Plus MPV. All three CVT models will go on sale during 2019 festive season (near around Diwali). The Japanese carmaker will also upgrade its products to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms.

Currently, the Nissan Kicks comes with a 106bhp, 1.5L petrol and 110bhp, 1.5L diesel engines paired to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed manual gearbox respectively. The Datsun Go and Go Plus, on the other hand, make use of a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that’s good for 68PS and 104Nm of torque. Both vehicles come with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Datsun GO+ Vehicle Dynamic Control

Recently, the Japanese carmaker added a new XE trim to the Kicks lineup. The new entry-level diesel variant has been priced at Rs 9.89 lakh, thus making it around Rs 1.2 lakh more affordable than the previous XL base model. The XL and XV diesel trims also receive minor feature upgrades along with minor price hike. While the former is now available at Rs 11.09 lakh, the latter is priced at Rs 12.51 lakh.

Talking about Nissan India’s future plan, the company will roll out its globally popular Leaf electric hatchback by the end of this year. Rumour also has it that the carmaker might also bring in its some globally popular SUVs India including Terra, Pathfinder and X-Trail.
