Nissan Kicks Launching On January 22; To Rival Hyundai Creta

The long-awaited Nissan Kicks compact SUV will officially go on sale in India on January 22, 2019. Bookings for the SUV have already been started at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Nissan Kicks compact SUV will directly rival the segment-leader Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Tata Harrier. It is built on the modified version of the heavily localised Renault-Nissan Alliance’s MO platform that also underpins the Captur and Duster. For people not in the know, the global model is based on the Nissan’s V-platform.

In terms of proportions, the Kicks is 114mm longer, 33mm wider and 26mm taller than the Creta. It measures 4,384mm, 1,813mm and 1,656mm in length, width and height respectively. The SUV comes with a wheelbase of 2,673mm, which is around 83mm more than the Creta.

The Nissan Kicks compact SUV is equipped with several segment-first features like Around View Monitor 360-degree camera and a telematic enabled smartwatch. It features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Navigation. The SUV rides on 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels. It features electric retractable ORVMs with integrated LED turn indicators, signature V-Motion front grille, LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a high ground clearance of 205mm. The Nissan Kicks will be made available in petrol and diesel fuel options. The diesel version is powered by a tried & tested 1.5-litre K9K engine that is capable of producing 108bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. On the flip side, the gasoline version gets a 1.5-litre unit that is good for 105bhp and 142Nm of torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual, 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
