Nissan Developing A Sub-10 Lakh 7-Seater MPV – Report

Buoyed by excellent response for new Magnite subcompact SUV, Nissan India is now planning to expand its portfolio to improve market share. The company is reportedly working on a new 7-seater MPV, which is likely to be priced under Rs 10 lakh.

Details about the new 7-seater MPV is not available; however, it is likely to share the underpinnings with the Renault Triber. It is expected to be based on the modified version of the CMF-A platform. The same platform underpins the Magnite and the Renault Kiger SUVs.

Not just platform, the rumoured 7-seater Nissan MPV could also share the interior and features with the 5-seater subcompact SUV. The model should offer flexible seating options similar to the Triber MPV. Moreover, the MPV could offer extra features that are missing in the Renault’s MPV.

The new Nissan 7-seater MPV is likely to share the engine options with the Magnite compact SUV. The powertrain options include a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 72PS and 96Nm, the later produces 99bhp and 140Nm of torque. Both manual and CVT automatic gearbox options are likely to be on offer.

In fact, the company has delivered 30,000 Magnite’s in just 11 months. The small SUV still commands a waiting period of around 3 to 6 months. Nissan has a pending backlog of 42,000 units, and the numbers keep increasing with every passing day.
