Next generation Nissan Micra launch in 2016

New Nissan Micra

Japanese car manufacturer Nissan will launch the all-new Micra hatchback in 2016 and it will be produced for both developed and developing nations. The 2016 Micra will also be produced at Renault’s LeMans factory in France, which will be utilized to export the car to developed nations. On the other hand, Renault-Nissan’s joint manufacturing facility at Oragadam, Chennai would serve as an export hub for developing nations.

The 2016 Nissan Micra will be based on an all-new platform that is the Common Module Family (CMF) architecture. The CMF architecture is very important for future Nissan and Renault products. The Renault small hatchback, codenamed XBA will be the first CMF-A based car for Indian market, coming in 2015. The next generation Nissan Micra would be based on the CMF-B platform, which it will share with the next-gen Renault Clio.

If media reports are to be believed, the new hatchback would get new name instead of the Micra badge. Adding to it, the feature set of the Indian-spec model is likely to be different from the export model. It will be longer than the outgoing model and is equipped with new turbo engine to offer high performance and fuel efficiency. The current generation Nissan Micra is powered by a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder petrol and 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engines. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol model also gets CVT auto gearbox.
