Mitsubishi, the Japanese carmaker has announced that the company will phase out the iconic Lancer soon from its global portfolio. The company is also working on a new model, which will come as a replacement for the Lancer. Theophilus Chin has revealed a rendering of the next generation Lancer.
It is expected that the replacement for the slow-selling Mitsubishi Lancer will be based on a Renault or Nissan platform. The next model is likely to get revolutionary design. The rendering suggest that the next C-segment sedan will sport an upscale design with sporty elements.
If rumors are to be believed, the next generation Mitsubishi Lancer will be a global sedan. However, it is yet to be announced that the next model will use Renault or a Nissan platform. The current Evolution version of the Lancer saloon will be removed from Mitsubishi lineup after 2015. The company has recently revealed the Evo X Final Concept, which will be the last Lancer. With the next Lancer in making, we believe that Mitsubishi India will bring this saloon to Indian market.
