Next-generation Mahindra Bolero and Thar will be based on the safer and stronger platform

We informed you earlier that Mahindra is working on the new-generation models of its existing SUV range. The company will bring the next-gen Bolero and Thar in early 2020, followed by new Scorpio and XUV500. The next-gen models will be safer in terms of structural integrity and safety features. Besides these models, Mahindra will launch a sub-4 meter SUV – codenamed S201 and a premium SUV to challenge Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks.

The next-generation Mahindra Bolero will be based on an all-new platform, which will also underpin the Thar. Due to new platform, the next-gen Thar and Bolero will be longer than the existing one. The new platform will be stronger and will be compliant with the upcoming safety standards. The new Mahindra Thar and Bolero will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, seat belt reminders, rear parking censors and central locking as standard safety features. The next models will come with new design highlights, and SsangYong and Pininfarina Italian design house will help Mahindra in the designing of these 2 SUVs. The next-gen models will also receive few modern features, which are missing in the existing models. It could receive a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity; though this feature is likely to be offered in the top-spec model only. Features like AC with heater, 2 DIN music system and multi-functional steering wheel might come as standard.
