Next-Gen Maruti Celerio Launch Pushed To Mid-2021: New Details

The second generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback was planned to be launched in April-May 2021; however, the launch has now been delayed due to COVID-19 Pandemic. The new model is now expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2021.

The next-gen Maruti Celerio will be based on the HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the WagonR, S-Presso and the Swift twins. The new model has been caught testing numerous times, which suggest that the new Celerio will not retain the tall-boy design of the existing car. The hatchback will also receive smaller and smooth headlamps. Adding to it, the new Celerio will get new bumpers, new front grille with chrome strip, fog lamps on the lower bumper, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, etc.

The next-gen Maruti Celerio will also grow in size, which should free more space inside the cabin. The rear of the new Celerio will also be completely re-designed, and now more rounded in shape. It gets redesigned bumper, boot and tail-lamp. The boot opening handle is placed on the tailgate.

The next-gen Maruti Celerio cabin will also be completely redesigned. The spotted model reveals that the new model will get high-end features, which are missing in the outgoing car. The hatchback will get features like manual automatic air-conditioning, charging socket, power windows, Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and new instrument console. It will also come with multi-functional steering wheel, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, reverse camera (top-end variant), etc.

The new Celerio is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol. While the former is good for 83bhp and 110Nm, the 1.0L engine produces 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
