Next-gen Mahindra Bolero – What To Expect?

Bolero

Mahindra is readying the next-gen Scorpio, XUV500 and the Thar SUVs, which will be launched in the next couple of years. Mahindra has recently launched the facelift versions of the Bolero SUV, which is priced at Rs 7.98 lakh. The updated model has received cosmetic changes and BSVI compliant diesel engines. This suggests that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero won’t be launched anytime soon.

It is expected that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero will be launched in the late 2020 or 2021. The new model is expected to be based on the new ladder-frame chassis, which is expected to be the same platform that underpins the current-gen Scorpio. This platform will also underpin the next-gen Mahindra Thar, which is likely to be launched in the next couple of months.

The current Bolero is hugely popular in semi-urban and rural regions, thanks to its upright and boxy stance. The SUV looks tough and offers seat for multiple people. It is expected that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero will retain the rugged look and boxy stance. However, there will be modern design elements like new LED headlamps, LED DRLs in top-end variant, skid plate, ORVMs with turn indicators and new front grille inspired by the next-gen Scorpio and the XUV500.

The next-gen Mahindra Bolero will be offered with multiple seating. It will also receive all-new interior with modern day features, which are missing in the current model. The SUV could receive new audio system, Bluetooth telephony, air-conditioning and others as standard. The top-end model could receive a touchscreen infotainment system. The next-gen Mahindra Bolero will be safer and compliant with the new safety and crash test norms. The new model will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, driver and co-driver seat belt reminders, speed alert system, vehicle reverse parking sensors and manual override for the central locking system as standard safety features. Similar to the new-gen Thar, the next-gen Mahindra Bolero is likely to feature the new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is likely to offer 140bhp of power in the Thar and similar could be offered with the Bolero. Delivering power to the rear wheels will be a 6-speed manual gearbox. Aiming to enhance comfort and drivability of the SUV, the carmaker will also update its suspension system.
