Next-Gen Hyundai Creta, i20 Launch Timeline Revealed

Hyundai will launch new-generation models of Creta, i20, Grand i10 and Xcent in 2020.

Hyundai has recently revealed that it will launch 8 new cars in the Indian car market by 2020. The first model to go on sale is the new-generation Santro – codenamed AH2 – during festive season, Diwali. Hyundai will also enter into the sub-4 meter SUV space in the first half of 2019. It will launch a compact SUV based on the Carlino concept, which was previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

Besides these, Hyundai will launch its first electric vehicle in India. The Kona EV will go on sale in India in the second half of 2019. This model will be brought to India via a CKD route. Adding to it, Hyundai will introduce the facelifted versions of the Elantra and Tucson in early 2019. Hyundai will also launch the new-generation models of the Creta, i20, Grand i10 and Xcent in India in 2020. All these models have received their mid-life facelifts and will require a complete makeover in the next 2 years. The Grand i10 is the oldest in the portfolio, first launched in 2013. Previous media reports claim that the next-generation Hyundai Creta is likely to come with two seating layouts – a five-seater and a 7-seater. The former will go on sale in 2020, while the 7-seater variant is expected to arrive in 2021. Hyundai believes that there are different seat of buyers for each of these variants and the company is committed to serve both kinds of buyers by providing two versions of the Creta.

Talking about i20, the next-gen model is expected to arrive with more refined engines and better ride and handling. The vehicle is likely to receive segment-leading features along with BSVI compliant petrol and diesel engines. Expect the next-gen Hyundai i20 to get a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 118bhp of power.
