Next-Gen Honda Civic Sedan Spied For The First Time

We reported earlier that Honda has started testing the next-gen Civic hatchback, which is expected to be unveiled in 2021. Now, the next-gen Honda Civic sedan has been spotted testing for the first time in Thailand. The spotted model was heavily camouflaged, which makes it hard to figure out the changes on offer.

The next-gen Honda Civic sedan is likely to be based on the new platform. It will come with all-new design elements, though the overall profile is likely to remain intact. The sedan will grow in size to create more space inside the cabin. The four-door coupe styling will be retained, while the front and rear design is likely to be revised.

Most of the visual changes will be sourced from the Accord sedan. It is likely to receive bigger headlights, while the roof line will be designed in a way to offer more headroom to the rear occupants. Engine details are yet to be known, but the new Civic is likely to receive significant changes to offer improved emissions and fuel economy. The global-spec model is likely to feature the 1.0L turbocharged and 1.5 VTEC turbocharged petrol engines with CVT units. The company could also offer the 2.0L naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

The next-gen Honda Civic sedan is not likely to arrive in our market before 2023. The India-spec model will take on the likes of the Skoda Octavia and the Hyundai Elantra, which will also receive a generation change in India in 2022. Honda will also launch the City hybrid in India in early 2021. Adding to it, the company is also considering compact SUVs for our market.
