Next-gen Ford EcoSport Rendered; Inspired By New Equator SUV

We informed you earlier that Ford is preparing a mid-life facelift of the EcoSport compact SUV, which is likely to be launched during festive season, 2021. The company is also working on the next-gen EcoSport, which could be introduced globally in the end of 2022 or 2023. It is reported that Ford has started testing the new EcoSport using Aspire/Ka+ body. Here is a render image that shows how the next-gen Ford EcoSport could look like.

The render is inspired by the Ford Equator six-seater SUV, which has recently been unveiled for the global markets. The render has completely redesigned front, which has a large grille with chrome embellishments, and an upper grille chrome strip that runs across the width. It features sharper LED DRls and turn indicators, which looks like an extension to the chrome strip.

The render has completely re-designed front bumper that accommodates newly styled headlamps. There is a chrome garnish that runs above the lower air-dam and covers the headlamp area. It also gets front parking sensors. The lower bumper has a silver coloured skid plate. The side profile looks identical to the existing model; however, it gets new alloys.

Moving to the rear, the design has been completely changed. It misses out on the tailgate mounted spare wheel. The rear design is also inspired by the new Equator SUV. It gets newly styled split LED tail-lamps, which are connected by a reflector bar. The vehicle has new bumper, which accommodates silver coloured skit plate at the bottom and twin exhaust tips.

International media claims that the next-gen Ford EcoSport will carry a more crossover-ish stance instead of the SUV-like look. Adding to it, the size of the new model is also rumoured to be increased significantly. It is reportedly to measure around 4.3 meters in length, which will make it a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks. The next-gen Ford EcoSport is expected to be based on the modified version of the existing platform. The current model is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 121PS and 149Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 1.5L turbo unit producing 99bhp and 215Nm of torque.
