Next-gen Ford EcoSport: 4 Ways the New Model Could Look Like
The next-gen Ford EcoSport is expected to be based on the modified B3 platform.
American automaker, Ford has already started working on the next-gen Ford EcoSport compact SUV. If reports are to be believed, the new model will retain the existing B platform that also underpins the Figo range in India. However, the platform will be modified for the new model.
Ford will also share this platform with Mahindra & Mahindra. The homegrown UV maker is expected to utilise this platform to develop an all-new mid-sized SUV, which will take on the likes of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Ford will also receive its own version of the mid-sized SUV.
Some reports suggest that Ford could use Mahindra’s partnership to develop the new EcoSport for the Indian market. The India-spec model could be based on the new Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV, which is designed and developed on the SsangYong’s X100 platform. This model will share several body panels and interior with the XUV300. Here is a rendering, which shows the new EcoSport designed on the XUV300 compact SUV.
Few international media reports that the next-gen Ford EcoSport will grow in size and will be significantly larger than the outgoing model. It is expected to measure around 4.3 meters in length, which will make it a direct rival to the likes of the Honda HR-V and the Jeep Compass. The longer version is expected to be launched in the Brazilian markets.
Brazilian publication has also released a new rendering of the next-gen Ford EcoSport, which shows the significant design changes. Instead of squarish profile, the projection reveals more rounded profile for the next EcoSport. This model has lowered roof that’s slopping towards the rear with integrated roof rails. It also gets completely new rear profile with new tailgate design.
A new rendering from Digital artish Klebar Silva reveals the possible design of future Ford Ka Crossover, which previews the design of the next-gen EcoSport. The rendering shares design cues from the new-gen Ford Escape, which means it will have more rounded front than the squarish profile. The sloping roofline, black plastic cladding, all-new rear design and more sculpted bonnet gives it a completely different profile.
If media reports are to be believed, the next-gen Ford EcoSport will share the engine specifications with the Mahindra XUV300. It will receive the new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer.
