Next Ford EcoSport Rendered With Raptor Grille, Mahindra XUV300 Body

It is no secret that Ford is readying the next-generation EcoSport compact SUV, which is rumoured to be launched in 2022. The global-spec model is rumoured to be based on the existing Ford Fiesta’s B platform. On the flip side, the India-spec EcoSport will be developed by Ford-Mahindra Joint Venture.

Digital Artist, Kleber Silva has released new renderings of the new-gen Ford EcoSport. The rendering shows an aggressive looking compact SUV with Ford’s Raptor grille and aggressive front design. This treatment is not likely to be offered with the production version; however, this could hint at a more rugged version of the standard EcoSport. This looks more like a showcar (concept).

Except for the front, the side and rear profile has resemblance with the Mahindra XUV300. In fact, the side profile is exactly similar to the XUv300. At the back, the rendering has new tail-lights and slightly revised tailgate. The overall rear design is similar to the XUV300.

Few reports suggest that the next EcoSport could be the smallest member of the Ford Bronco family. The India-spec model will be powered by the Mahindra’s mStallion engine.  It will come with a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder T-GDI gasoline motor with direct injection technology. This engine is capable of producing 130bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. This is around 5bhp more powerful and 60Nm torquier than the previous 1.0L EcoBoost engine. A six-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard.

The first product under the Ford-Mahindra Joint Venture will be an all-new C-segment SUV. This SUV will be based on the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 front-wheel-drive monocoque platform. The new SUV is expected to be launched in the end of 2021 or early 2022. It will directly rival the Tata Harrier, MG Hector and the Jeep Compass.

The JV is also working on an all-new mid-sized SUV, which will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The new SUV could use Ford’s B platform and Mahindra’s 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. Adding to it, Ford will also launch an all-new MPV based on the Marazzo’s platform.
