Tata Motors is all set to launch the highly-awaited Nexon compact SUV in the Indian market. Ahead of its launch, Tata dealers have started taking pre-orders for the compact SUV. Deliveries are being promised from the second half of September 2017. Based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform, the Nexon sub-4 meter SUV will take on the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. We have already driven the SUV, and you can find our review here – Nexon Review
The Nexon sub-4 meter SUV comes with two engine options – a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Revotorq diesel and a 1.2-litre three-cylinder, Revotron petrol. While the former is capable of producing 108bhp of maximum power and 260Nm of torque, the gasoline engine churns out 108bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels come as standard. The vehicle will also get a six-speed AMT unit, but on later stage. If reports are to be believed, the Tata Nexon AMT model will go on sale in the first quarter of 2018.
The Nexon is the first model in its league that offers multiple driving modes. Tata claims that the new engines have been designed in-house. While the petrol unit will be produced at the company’s Sanand facility, the turbocharged Revotorq motor will be developed at Tata’s Ranjangaon facility.
