New XUV500 To XUV300 EV – 5 New Mahindra SUVs Launching In 1 Year

Buoyed by excellent response for new-gen Thar lifestyle SUV, Mahindra is now ready to introduce new-generations of existing SUVs and new electric vehicles in the market. The company will enter into the electric SUV space with 2 new models, while the two popular SUVs will receive generation change in early next year. In this article, we bring you a list of upcoming new Mahindra SUVs in the next couple of years –

1. New XUV500

Upcoming Cars Under 20 Lakhs

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 is scheduled to be launched in the first Half of 2021. It will be based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Ford C-SUV. The new mid-sized SUV will come with 6 and 7-seat options, which will make it a direct rival to the likes of the MG Hector Plus 6-seater and the upcoming Tata Gravitas. The new model will grow in size, which will help Mahindra to create more space inside the cabin.

The new-gen XUV500 will also receive segment-first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). It will come with advanced driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking,  Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Park Assist. It will be offered with two engine options – a 190bhp, 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a 180bhp, 2.2-litre turbo-charged diesel.

2. New Scorpio

2020 Mahindra Scorpio Upgrade

Mahindra’s popular Scorpio will receive a generation change in the second quarter of 2021. The new model will be based on the modified ZEN3 platform, which also underpins the new Thar. It will come with all-new design, and spacious, completely re-designed interior. The new Scorpio will ride on longer wheelbase, which in return offers more legroom for the second and third row occupants.

The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be offered with two new engine options – a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

3. XUV300 Electric

Mahindra will introduce the electric version of the XUV300 compact SUV in the end of this year. The company had showcased the SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Mahindra XUV300 electric SUV will be made available with two battery options – 40kWh (standard) and 60kWh (long-range). While the former will offer a range over 370km, the latter will promise a range over 450km.

4. eKUV100

Mahindra eKUV100 Prices

Mahindra will start delivering the electric KUV100 in the first quarter of 2021. The new model is priced at Rs 8.25 lakh, which makes it the most affordable electric car in India. It will be aimed at fleet operators; however, private buyers can also drive home this EV. The mini SUV a 40kW electric motor and a 15.9kWh lithium-ion battery. The former produces a maximum power of 53bhp against 120Nm of torque. It’s claimed to deliver a range of 150kmph. Its battery can be charged up to 80% in 55 minutes by using a fast charger. It also supports the regular power socket charging.

5. TUV300 and TUV300 Plus Facelift

Mahindra will introduce the facelifted versions of the TUV300 and the TUV300 Plus in the country in the next few months. The new models have already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The spy images reveal that the TUV300 facelift will have revised front fascia; however, the overall profile will remain the same. The facelifted Mahindra TUV300 will receive the BSVI-compliant 1.5L, 3-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. In the BS4 avatar, this engine produces 100bhp and 240Nm of torque.
