Volvo XC40 To Make Global Debut On September 21, 2017

Volvo claims that the interior of its new compact SUV will be clutter-free and offer multiple functional storage areas.

Volvo, the Swedish luxury car manufacturer has confirmed that its much-awaited XC40 compact SUV will have its world debut on September 21, 2017. The company has released a couple of teasers via its twitter handle revealing the debut date and details of the vehicle. The latest teasers also give the best look yet at the SUV. Volvo aims to sell 1,00,000 units of the XC40 within the first year of production.

The upcoming Volvo SUV is likely to share most of its design and styling features with its larger siblings – XC60 and XC90. It will be the first product to be based on Volvo’s new CMA platform. Volvo claims that the interior of its new compact SUV will be clutter-free and offer multiple functional storage areas. Besides this, it will come with a pack of high-tech comfort and connectivity features. Some of the key highlight might include a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, Volvo’s large portrait infotainment system, a digital instrument display, premium leather upholstery, etc.

With respect to engine, this new SUV will come with a range of petrol and diesel powertrain options including a new three-cylinder 1.5L petrol. Volvo will also introduce a hybrid unit making 180bhp of power. In full electric model, it will offer a driving range of 48kms. The all-new XC40 will also make its way to the Indian market. The company might showcase the car at the Delhi Auto Expo in February. This smallest Volvo crossover will be the most affordable offering from the carmaker. It is estimated to be priced between Rs 35 lakh – Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom).
