Volkswagen dealers have started taking pre-orders for the upcoming 2014 VW Polo facelift. The updated Polo will go on sale in July this year which comes with slightly tweaked interiors and exteriors. Volkswagen India has announced a hefty discount of Rs. 75,000 on the current Polo. This could be the strategy to exhaust the current stock before launching the new model.
On being contacted, the Volkswagen dealers told us that the bookings for the upcoming Polo 1.5L diesel variant have been started at a token amount of Rs. 50,000. Moreover, the new diesel Polo will be paired to a new automatic transmission gearbox. The petrol models will feature the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre TSI mills.
One of the Jaipur based Volkswagen dealers stated that the diesel powered Polo with automatic transmission is likely to costs Rs. 9-10 lakh (on-road price). Under the hood, the new Polo diesel will be powered by a 1.5-litre TDI engine that produces two states of tune- 89bhp and 109bhp. This engine will replace the 1.6-litre TDI engine. It will help the company to enjoy excise duty benefit on sub-4 metre car and an engine less than 1500cc displacement.
