Piaggio has launched an upgraded range of Vespa 2015 scooters in India. The new Vespa scooter range was unveiled by Footballer Alessandro Del Piero – the company’s new global brand ambassador. While there are several cosmetic changes along with new equipments, scooters remain unchanged mechanically. Called the Vespa VXL and Vespa SXL, both the models are available with both 125cc and 150cc engines.
The Vespa VXL’s traditional design draws inspiration from the company’s iconic design philosophy, while the SXL gets a refreshed design that complements the Italian marque’s retro character. The Vespa SXL gets new front design, elongated single-piece seats, newly designed 5-spoke alloy wheels, digital console and broader tubeless tyres. On the other hand, the VXL variants come equipped with new front (Chrome treatment), comfortable and stylish seat, chrome finish alloy wheels, digital console cluster, broader & tubeless tyres. Adding to it, the retro scooters also get chrome finished bumper guard, perimeter kit with chrome treatment, a 3-D logo and impact resistant visor.

The 150cc, 3-valve engine features aluminium cylinder head, MAP sensing and variable spark timing management. This engine is capable of producing 11.5bhp of power at 7000rpm and a peak torque of 11.5Nm at 5,500rpm. On the other hand, the smaller capacity 125cc engine is good for 10bhp of power at 7500rpm along with a peak torque of 10.6Nm at 6,000rpm. Both the motors are paired to a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) gearbox.
