It’s just been six months, Hyundai India introduced the new-generation model of its popular sedan – Verna. The South Korean carmaker has been receiving an overwhelming response for the vehicle and proof of that lies in the fact that the new Verna has crossed 25,000 units sales mark since its arrival in the market. In an official statement, Hyundai confirmed that it sold over 25,800 units and over 11,800 units of the Verna in domestic and global markets respectively. In January 2018, the Verna outnumbered its arch rival Honda City with a significant difference of 633 units. New Hyundai Verna Review
The new-gen Verna also bagged the most prestigious automobile award of the country – ICOTY 2018. In January 2018, Hyundai expanded the sedan carline with the new 1.4-litre petrol variant priced at Rs 7.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Currently, the Verna is available in a total of 12 variants priced between Rs 7.80 lakh – 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Engine options of the new Verna include – a 1.4-litre Dual VTVT, a 1.6L VTVT petrol and a 1.6L U2 CRDi diesel. The 1.6L gasoline unit makes power worth 121bhp and 155Nm and the 1.6L oil burner delivers 126bhp and 260Nm of torque. The 1.4L petrol mill is good enough for 98.6bhp and 134Nm of torque. Built on all-new K2 platform, the new Verna shares most of its design bits and features with the Elantra. Some of its key features include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, R16 diamond cut alloys, 7.0-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link connectivity, reverse parking camera, electric sunroof, standard dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child anchors.
