Japanese automaker, Toyota has officially revealed the images and details of the new-gen Prius. The new Toyota Prius 2023 will come in plug-in hybrid set-up as well as two other strong hybrid powertrains. The strong hybrids will be offered in markets like Japan and North America, while the PHEV model will target European markets.
The new Toyota Prius styling is inspired from the new bZ full-EV range, featuring a more coupe-like design. The new model is lower, wider and shorter than the current model; however, the wheelbase has been increased to create more space inside the cabin. The interior of the new Prius is inspired by the bZ4X EV SUV, featuring a dedicated floating infotainment and digital driver display. The dashboard has a warning system that will flash the ambient lights, which alerts the driver when any object detected close to the car.
The European-spec new Toyota Prius 2023 will only come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which features a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with a total power of 220bhp. The outgoing Prius features a 1.8L engine with hybrid system that produces 121bhp. The PHEV comes with a 13.6kWh battery, which is placed under the rear seats. It is claimed to offer 50 percent more full-EV range than its predecessor. The vehicle could run up to 90km on a full EV mode. The company will also offer the Prius PHEV with an optional solar roof panel.
The strong hybrid versions will come with a 1.8L and a 2.0L petrol engine coupled to a strong hybrid tech. The powertrains can produce up to 194bhp and both versions will come Toyota’s E-Four AWD tech. The new Prius comes with Toyota Safety Sense, featuring a monocular camera at the front, a rear-facing camera for the digital inner mirror, and an in-vehicle drive recorder.
The vehicle also has Toyota Teammate system that includes Advanced Park with a remote function, which allows the Prius to automatic controlled while parking.
