New Toyota MPV To Take On Mahindra Marazzo
Toyota’s new SUV and MPV are likely to be priced between Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh.
Toyota recently announced that will focus on manufacturing budget cars for the Indian market. The Japanese carmaker will also introduce new-generation models of the Etios sedan and Liva hatchback in the country. Besides this, the company has planned two new cars for the C-segment including a 5-seater SUV and a 7-seater MPV.
Both these models are likely to share platform with the global-spec Toyota Rush SUV. Reports suggest that the same architecture will also be used by Suzuki for Maruti Suzuki’s flagship SUV and MPV. While Toyota’s new C-segment SUV will gun up straight against the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier, the MPV will take on the Mahindra Marazzo.
Toyota’s new SUV and MPV are likely to come in the price range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh. The MPV could be the first one to arrive in the market, followed by the SUV. The former, which is almost in its final stages of approval, might see a release sometime in 2022 – 2023. In the company’s India product lineup, the new Toyota mid-size MPV will sit below the Innova Crysta.
As far as engine is concerned, the Japanese carmaker might offer new petrol and diesel powertrains meeting the stringent emission norms. We might also see the hybrid versions of the new SUV and MPV. The new Toyota mid-size MPV will be designed on the lighter monocoque/unibody architecture that will aid to its fuel economy.
