2018 Toyota Camry is based on the TNGA that represents the brand’s new design and engineering approaches.

Toyota previewed the eighth-generation Camry at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new Toyota Camry 2019 will also make its way to the Indian market next year. In the luxury saloon segment, the all-new model of the sedan will continue to take on the Honda Accord hybrid, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat.

Designed on the GA-K platform, the new Toyota Camry 2018 represents the brand’s new design and engineering approaches. The same platform has already been utilized for the new Toyota Prius. Recently, the heavily camouflaged prototype of the saloon spotted testing in the country. The latest spy pictures reveal the rear and side profile of the vehicle including new taillamps, multi spoke alloy wheels, chrome door handles, new ORVMs and exhaust pipe.

New Toyota Camry 2019 India Launch

Toyota hasn’t yet revealed the launch details of the saloon, though it is likely to go on sale sometime next year. We will update the official launch date and details, once the carmaker announces it.

New Toyota Camry 2019 Price in India

Currently, the Camry sedan is available in two variants – 2.5 G and 2.5 Hybrid – priced at Rs 29.75 lakh and Rs 37.22 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi). Design and styling of the 2018 Toyota Camry will certainly be more premium than the outgoing model. Unlike the current model that’s based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture), the new-gen version sits on the GA-K platform. Similar to the global version, the India-spec sedan will feature horizontal fog lamps integrated on the outer ends of the air dam grille, while the marker lights from the headlights have been removed. The sedan will get new projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and a single-unit air dam instead of a split one. While the headlamps of the US-spec model have amber-coloured strips, the India-spec version will miss out on them. Other exterior updates include a two-piece grille with flowing thin and thick treatments, curvaceous hood with sharper creases.

For 2019, the Camry will have dropped shoulder line below large side windows, slit-like windows, thick-waisted bodies, door-mounted mirrors and tapering trunk. It will also get pronounced creases along the flank, sculpted C-pillar, new multi-spoke alloy wheels, new ORVMs, chrome door handles low-angle rear three-quarter view and LED taillight inspired from the new Prius. Toyota has trimmed down the overall height (by an inch) and seating position of the global-spec 2019 Camry. New Toyota Camry 2019 Interior

Interior design of the new model will be more driver-centric than before. You will notice the high-quality soft touch and premium materials on the dashboard, center console, instrument panel and door trim. There will be a large touchscreen infotainment system and a coloured instrument cluster. For safety provision, the new Camry will get 10 standard airbags and a backup camera. The new Toyota Camry 2019 will also come fitted with Toyota’s Star Safety System that includes enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, ABS, EBD, brake assist, and smart stop technology. The Toyota Safety Sense also comes as standard safety feature that includes several active safety technologies such as pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and automatic high beams. Features such as blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert will also be offered on the select variants.

Globally, the 2018 Toyota Camry will receive a new 3.5-litre V6 with D-4S fuel injection, a new 2.5-litre inline-4 petrol and new-gen Toyota Hybrid System (THSIII). Toyota claims that the all-new 2.5-litre petrol powertrain, benefited with the VVT-iE (Variable Valve-Timing-intelligent electric), delivers the world-leading thermal efficiency of 40%. Paired with a new Direct Shift-8AT transmission, this motor will deliver high power and torque figures. In India, the sedan will be offered with a 2.5-litre petrol and hybrid (2.5-litre petrol + Atkinson cycle) powertains. Both the engines will be paired to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The former unit makes 178.4bhp at 6,000rpm and 233Nm of torque at 4,100rpm, and the latter one develops 157.7bhp at 5,700rpm and 213Nm at 4,500rpm. The petrol motor can do 0-100kmph in 9.2 seconds and offers a top speed of 210kmph. The hybrid powertrain accelerates 0-100kmph in 10.8 seconds while maintaining a top speed of 200kmph.
