New Tata Nexon On High Altitude Testing – More Details Emerge

Tata Motors is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The homegrown UV maker will introduce a new Creta Rival SUV in the form of Curvv SUV Coupe. Set to be launched in 2024, the new Tata Curvv will be offered with ICE and electric powertrains. Tata Motors is also working on the new Nexon subcompact SUV, which has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. This time around, the new Tata Nexon has been caught doing high altitude, harsh weather testing in the Himalayas.

The new Tata Nexon 2024 will get a new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine that produces 125PS and 225Nm of torque. This powertrain was debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will also power the Curvv SUV Coupe. The new turbo engine will meet the Real-Driving Emission (RDE) norms and can run on E20 fuel (Petrol with 20% ethanol blend). This could be the reason behind the new Nexon being tested on high altitudes.

Tata Motors has also suggested that the new Nexon with 1.2L turbo petrol engine could receive a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The current Nexon is available with a six-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The SUV will also come with a diesel engine option with manual and AMT. It will retain the existing 1.5L turbo diesel engine that produces 115bhp and 260Nm of torque.

The latest spy images give us a clear look at the front fascia of the new Tata Nexon. The front design of the SUV seems heavily inspired from the Curvv SUV Coupe. On a closer look, it is visible that the new Nexon gets an LED daytime running light (DRL) strip that runs across the width of the front. A sleeker grille and newly styled headlamp setup is placed below the LED DRL strip.

2024 Tata Nexon Spied

The overall shape of the new Tata Nexon looks largely similar to the existing model. The SUV will come with a new set of alloys. At the back, the new subcompact SUV gets connected tail-lights with a sharper ‘X’ motif, new bumper and tailgate design.

In terms of features, the new-gen Nexon will get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, six airbags, ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof and Harman sound system. The SUV is also expected to receive some of the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

While the exact launch timeline of the new Nexon is yet to be revealed, we expect the new sub-4 meter SUV will arrive in our market sometime in 2024. With a new powertrain and feature upgrade, the new model is expected to receive a price hike. It will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Nissan Magnite.
