Tata’s Global Design Team Working On New Models

Tata’s global design team includes 180 experts from nine different countries.

Tata Motors has been on a roll. The home-grown carmaker has taken the compact SUV segment by storm with the all-new Nexon compact SUV. Tata’s first-ever compact SUV, Nexon became talk of the town ever since its unveiling at the 2016 Auto Expo – thanks to its unique styling. In the last few years, the Pune-based carmaker has brought an all-new breed of the cars based on its new IMPACT design philosophy.

From being one of the least innovative brands in car designs to be at the forefront of it, Tata Motors has come a long way. The company’s global design team is now working on a range of new products that will further help the company improve its brand image and market share. In fact, Tata Motors’ design studios in Italy, Turin and UK (Coventry) have already prepared two SUVs (a 5-seater & a 7-seater) and a premium hatchback. Both the vehicles are expected to make their debut at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo in February 2018.

Tata’s global design team includes 180 experts from nine different countries. This team is also working on an entry-level hatchback and a premium sedan. While the new small car will be slotted below the Tiago hatchback, the full-size saloon will be positioned above the Tigor sub-4meter sedan.

Tata Motors that currently has its products in 70% segments, aims to cover over 90% by 2020.The Pune-based carmaker has high expectations from its recently-launched Nexon that’s supposed to increase their market coverage up to 71% from 60%. Tata also aims to tap the taxi segment in India.
