New Tata Cars

The Tata Motors upcoming new mini SUV and a mid-sized sedan will be based on the new Alpha modular platform that also underpins the 45X premium hatchback

We informed you earlier that Tata is planning a range of new cars in the Indian market in the next 2-4 years. Besides new Harrier SUV and a premium hatchback based on the 45X concept, Tata will launch the next-gen Nexon, Tiago and Tigor in India. The next-gen models will use the brand’s new Alpha modular platform. What’s exciting is that the brand is also working on a micro-SUV.

The new mini SUV, codenamed Tata Hornbill will also use the new Modular architecture. To be slotted below Nexon, the new small SUV will challenge the likes of Maruti’s upcoming mini SUV, which is likely to be called the “Maruti ZEN”.  The Tata Hornbill will be designed on the brand’s new IMPACT design philosophy, which is also visible on new H5X concept.Tata 45X Images

Before this SUV, Tata will launch a mid-sized sedan based on the 45X concept in India. This sedan will take on the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. It is expected to share design cues from the E-Vision concept, which is developed on the brand’s new OMEGA platform. It is likely to share mechanics with Nexon compact SUV.

Tata’s first model to use the AMP or Alpha platform is a premium hatchback, which will be based on the 45X concept hatchback. It is scheduled to be launched in the country in the second half of 2019. This model will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20.
