Upcoming Cars in India

Based on Suzuki’s new generation HEARTECH platform, the new Maruti Swift will be unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo

After launching the all new third generation Dzire, Maruti Suzuki India is now gearing up for the launch of its flagship hatchback, Swift in an all new avatar. The all-new Swift will first be released in European market followed by its India launch early next year. Ahead of its official launch, a left-hand drive variant of the hatchback has been spied testing in Thailand.

Aesthetic changes on the all-new Swift will include new pulled-back headlamp and integrated daytime running lights up front. At the side, it will retain most of the elements from the current model, save for few changes including floating roof and new diamond cut alloy wheels etc. Maruti could also offer contrast roof on the new Swift and hence it could also come under the iCreate customization league.

Rear on the other hand will receive key elements such as stubby taillamps with LED treatment. In addition to above changes, expect new Swift to get reworked boot-lid along with an integrated spoiler. Changes on the inside will be prominent. Expect it to get a new race-inspired twin-pod instrument cluster and a new infotainment system supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto borrowed from Baleno and S-Cross. The third generation Swift will be based on Suzuki’s all-new lightweight HEARTECT underpinnings, which is primarily a modified version of the B platform used in Baleno. The rigid HEARTECT underpinnings will not only make new Swift lighter but it will also make it safer. That said, the new Swift will comply with global norms as well as sterner emission norms that will be imposed in future.

Under the hood, the new Swift will get a choice between 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre oil burner. Reports in media suggest, Swift could also get Suzuki’s Boosterjet engine on the Sport variant. As for the transmission options, the carline is likely to come with a 5-speed manual unit, an auto box and an AMT unit.
