Suzuki’s all-new Swift Sport has been shown at the 67th International Motor Show (IAA 2017) in Germany. Designed on the brand’s ‘HEARTECT’ platform, the new-generation Swift Sport features lower, wider stance and more aggressive styling than its current global model. The new architecture has made the hot hatch lighter (80kg), faster and more rigid than before. It also aids to the overall handling of the car. The torque-to-weight ratio of the hatchback has also been improved.
For power, the new Swift Sport gets a 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine benefited with variable fuel pressure control system, dual intake air pressure sensor control and a pendulum-type mounting system. The same powertrain does duty in the global-spec Vitara S. This gasoline unit can produce 138bhp of power and 230Nm of torque between 2,500rpm and 3,000rpm. Delivering power to the front wheels is a 6-speed manual gearbox. This auto box unit is said to be tuned for better feedback and shift smoothness. Suzuki equips the car with new suspension setup that further refines its handling and driving dynamics. The new model sits 15mm lower than the existing one.
On the exterior, the new Swift Sport receives new grille, revised and large front bumper, a splitter nose, large diamond cut alloy wheels and lowered side skirts. Interior has also been revised with new sports seats, red dials, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and lots of racy red trims. The car also features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and Bluetooth phone connectivity, a 4.2 display positioned between the dials and music streaming.
