New SUV/Car Launches, Unveiling In February 2021

The first month of the year has witnessed multiple new car launches and debut across segments. In fact, a few of them are due for the last week of January. The next month (February 2021) will also be action-packed for the automobile industry as several new models are slated to unveil and launch in the country. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new SUVs and cars that will arrive next month.

1. Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift

The Indo-Japanese carmaker is ready to roll out the updated Swift hatchback in February. The model will receive a new 1.2L, 4-cylinder K12N Dualjet petrol engine, borrowed from the Dzire. The 2021 Maruti Swift facelift will be more powerful and fuel efficient than the existing one. It will also gets a new dual-tone colour scheme – Orange with contrast Black roof. Minimal changes will be made to its exterior and interior. The updated Swift is likely to come with new upholstery, updated touchscreen infotainment system, a rear parking camera, front grille with new mesh details, automatic LED headlamps with LED DRLs and 15-inch dual-tone alloys.

2. Renault Kiger

Renault’s upcoming Kiger subcompact SUV is scheduled to make its global debut on 28th January. Its launch, however, is likely to happen in February 2021. One must note that the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its launch date. Based on the CMF-A+ modular platform, the Renault Kiger will be offered with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engine options. While the former is good enough for 72bhp and 96Nm, the latter makes 99bhp and 160Nm. The subcompact SUV can be had with either with a manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. The production-ready model is claimed to retain 80% design bits from the concept. Reports suggest that the Kiger will be more feature rich than the newly-launched Magnite.

3. Tata Safari

Tata Motors is all set to bring back the iconic Safari brand with the all-new Gravitas based SUV that will debut on 26th January. The model might see a release sometime next month. The new Tata Safari will be made available in four trims – XE, XM, XT and XZ – and two seating configurations – 6-seats and 7-seats. The new Safari is the bigger and premium version of the Harrier. It shares several design bits and components along with the engine setup with the 5-seater Harrier. Though, a few changes have been made inside and out. The SUV will use a 170bhp, 2.0L diesel engine for deriving power and 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes for performing transmission duties. Initially, the new Safari will come with FWD system only.

4. Citroen C5 Aircross

The French carmaker is ready to unveil the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV on February 1, 2021. The model will see a release in the first quarter of this year. In India, the new Citroen SUV will be brought via CKD route and initially sold across 10 major cities. The carmaker will offer a single, feature-loaded variant of the C5 Aircross that’s estimated to cost around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the hood, the upcoming Citroen SUV might feature a 2.0L diesel motor pushing out a peak power of 177bho and 400Nm of torque. It can be had with both manual and automatic gearbox. Official features and other details of the vehicle will be revealed on 1st February.

5. New-Gen Honda HR-V

The new-generation Honda HR-V (Vezel) is scheduled to make its global debut on 18th February 2021. Reports suggest that the Japanese carmaker is considering the new HRV for the Indian market. Even if India is on the launch radar, the SUV is likely to come by the end of this year. The Japan-spec 2021 Honda HR-V will look different from its European and American model. The SUV’s new model is likely to be offered with the strong hybrid system – e:HEV that’s already used in the Thailand-spec Honda City, Jazz and Jazz Crosstar. The hybrid system includes a 1.5L iMMD petrol engine, a powerful electric motor, a lithium ion battery and a fixed gear transmission. The new Honda HRV will offer three driving modes – Electric Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive.

6. New-Gen Mitsubishi Outlander

The new-generation Mitsubishi Outlander SUV will have its world premiere in February 2021. The teaser and spy pictures reveal that the design of the SUV’s new model will be inspired by the Engelberg Tourer concept. It will be designed on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-C/D platform that also underpins the global-spec Nissan X-Trail. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be bigger and more spacious. Powering the SUV could be a 2,400cc engine, a lithium ion battery and two electric motors with PHEV technology. The 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander will deliver a range of over 600km. As of now, there is no official word on its India launch.
