New Skoda SUV Launch Details Confirmed; To Rival Seltos and Creta

It’s confirmed! Skoda Auto India will launch an all-new mid-size SUV in mid 2021 (i.e. between April – June). The information comes from Zac Hollis, Director of Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India. In India, the new Skoda SUV will put up against cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks. While the official name of the vehicle is yet to be revealed, it’s likely to be the Skoda Kamiq.

While the global version of the Skoda Kamiq is based on the MQB platform, the India-spec model will underpin the MQB A0 IN architecture and sit on a slightly longer wheelbase. Its length will be around 4.2m-4.3m.

In India, Skoda Kamiq is likely to be offered with a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol or a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The SUV might also get a factory-fitted CNG kit. Some of its key features might include an 8.0-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, ambient cabin lighting and many more. The Skoda Kamiq compact SUV was first previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March. The production-ready version of the vehicle might have its India debut at the Delhi Auto Expo that will be held from 7th to 12th February, 2020. It’s estimated to cost between Rs 10 lakh – Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
