The long-awaited new generation Skoda Octavia will finally be launched in the Indian market on June 10, 2021. Production of the new Octavia has already been commenced at the Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra. In fact, Skoda has started dispatching the new model to dealerships.
Skoda dealers have already started accepting pre-bookings for the new Octavia at a token amount of Rs 50,000. If media reports are to be believed, the new generation Skoda Octavia will be priced between Rs 27 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. However, we expect the new sedan to cost around Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. At this price point, the new Octavia will rival the Hyundai Elantra sedan.
The new generation Skoda Octavia will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Tiguan AllSpace and the upcoming Tiguan 5-seater. The new Octavia lower variants could also receive the new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Volkswagen T-ROC and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq and the Taigun. Paired to a 7-speed DSG, this engine produces 147bhp of power and 250Nm of torque.
Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB EVO platform, the new Octavia is 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the previous model. However, the sedan retains the 2,686mm wheelbase. The new Octavia also gets significant design changes and upgraded interior.
In terms of styling, the new Octavia gets prominent front fascia with a wider and low set grille and chrome surround. It gets single piece LED headlamp, angular tailgate, New split LED taillamp, and a sloping roofline. The sedan rides on newly developed 17-inch Rotare Aero alloy wheels.
Talking about features, the new Octavia will get a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Caraway, and a 10.25 inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument console. It will also get connected car tech, 8 airbags, ESC, and traction control.
