New Royal Enfield Meteor Motorcycle Confirmed – New Details Emerge

It is no secret that Royal Enfield is readying an all-new motorcycle, which will replace the Thunderbird nameplate in India. Most likely to be called the Royal Enfield Meteor, the new motorcycle is expected to be launched in our market in the mid-2020.

Internally codenamed J1C0, the new Royal Enfield Meteor motorcycle was recently caught on camera by a Youtuber – Dhabaswin KD. In the video, rider confirms that the new motorcycle will be called the Meteor. The new motorcycle will be based on the upgraded flexible J architecture, which will also be used to develop the new generation Bullet and Classic. The new motorcycle was speculated to be launched under the brand’s new Explorer sub-segment, which will target the women-centric buyers of the country. Going by the pictures, it is visible that the new Royal Enfield Meteor will target wider audience and is not likely to be a women-centric motorcycle.

The new RE Meteor is expected to feature an all-new engine, which is likely to be inspired by the 650cc parallel-twin unit offered in the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. However, it is likely to get a single-cylinder engine. The company could launch this motorcycle with an all-new engine with displacement ranging from 350cc to 500cc.

2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird

The design of the Royal Enfield Meteor is inspired by the Thunderbird range. It gets the same V-shaped alloy wheels, rear shock absorbers and engine casing with matte black finish. The motorcycle comes with a lower and sleeker stance, while the triangular side panels seem identical to the existing RE bikes. The motorcycle gets a new single-pod instrument console with a LCD screen positioned between the analogue speedometer.

The oval-shaped tail-lamp and turn indicators are placed on higher side. It gets upward-swept and short muffler, while the foot pegs are placed in the middle. Also visible is the single, flat seat.
