New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Teased – India Launch Details

Royal Enfield has dropped a new teaser video on its social media account. The teaser shows a gang of RE Himalayan bike crossing a river with a caption – Testing 1, 2, 3. It’s likely to be the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 featuring a round LED headlamp and a tall windshield. In order to differentiate it from its 400cc sibling, the bikemaker has made some changes to its fuel tank, front beak, side panels and exhaust. Elements such as step-up split seats, position of footpegs and handlebar and ride ergonomics seem to be carried forward from the existing 400cc model.

For power, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will use a 450cc engine that delivers a peak power of 40bhp and 45Nm of torque. It’s more powerful and torqueier than the Himalayan 400cc. The latter makes a top power of 24.3bhp and 32Nm. Transmission duties will be done by a 6-speed gearbox instead of the existing 5-speed unit.

The bike will have USD forks at the front and monoshock suspension unit at the rear, ensuring better high speed performance. Braking power will come from the front and rear disc brakes. The rear brake is further assisted by the dual-channel ABS (antilock braking system). It will come with the 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. Similar to the 400cc Himalayan, its 450 version will measure 2190mm in length, 840mm in width and 1360mm in height. Read: Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 – Split Seats, Semi-Digital Console, Tripper Nav

In terms of features, the new RE Himalayan 450 will offer ride-by-wire throttle, a digital analog instrument cluster and Tripper navigation system. The bike might get optional heated grips, handguards and handlebar.

Once launched, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will take on adventure bikes like BMW 310 GS, KTM 390 Adventure and Yezdi. The model might make its first public appearance at the EICMA 2022 that will be held from 8th to 13th November in Milan, Italy. Its India launch is likely to happen in early 2023.
