French automaker, Renault had launched the Kwid facelift and the Triber MPV in the Indian market this year. The company is planning to introduce one product every year in India till 2022. Renault India aims to double market share in the next 3-4 years. Adding to it, the company will introduce its first electric car in the country by 2022. It is expected that the Kwid based electric car will arrive in our market and could be priced under Rs 10 lakh.

A new media report claims that the French automaker will launch an all-new compact SUV in India in 2020. The new model will sit below 4 meter in length and will take on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and the Tata Nexon. The sub-4 meter SUV will be based on the modified Kwid’s platform, which also underpins the recently launched Triber MPV.

The new sub-4 meter SUV is expected to make debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be powered by a turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre SCe petrol engine. The Triber 7-seater MPV and Kwid are powered by the same 1.0-litre SCe engine in the naturally aspirated form. This engine produces 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT versions of the compact SUV will be on offer.

All the mandatory safety features will come as standard.

The company has already announced to go petrol only post April 2020. Renault is also working on the next generation Duster SUV, which is expected to be launched in 2021-22. The new model will be based on the CMF modular platform and will also be exported to select international markets.
