New Renault Duster Turbo Petrol Ready To Hit Roads

Renault India is all set to launch the Duster turbo-petrol variant in the coming weeks. Its official launch date, however, is yet to be announced by the carmaker. Ahead of its launch, the company added 17 new sales and service touchpoints including 14 showrooms and 3 workshops across the nation. Talking about Renault Duster turbo-petrol, the upcoming new variant will use the 1.3L, 4-cylinder turbo motor sourced from the Nissan Kicks. The engine is claimed to deliver a top power of 153bhp against 250Nm of torque, thus making it more powerful than the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and MG Hector. The new Creta and Seltos come with the 115bhp, 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol and 140bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol engines. The Hector, which is an upper segment car, is powered by a 1.5L turbo-petrol motor delivering power worth 143bhp with 250Nm.

In fact, the new Duster variant will be more frugal than its arch rivals. Similar to the Nissan Kicks turbo-petrol, it will offer a claimed mileage of 16.3kmpl. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. The carmaker will continue to retail the existing BS6-compliant 1.5L petrol Duster with the new, more powerful turbo-petrol variant. The showcased model looks sportier than the standard model. The red accents on the grille and newly-designed fog lamps, fatter roof rails, new red colour logo and lesser cladding will further mark distinction to its looks. Inside, the compact SUV might receive new upholstery and sporty red accents. Comfort goodies and safety fitments are likely to remain same.

While official prices will be revealed this month, it’s estimated to cost around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
