New Mitsubishi Outlander SUV Reaches Dealerships; Launch Imminent

The official bookings for the new Mitsubishi Outlander have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 50,000 across the nation.

Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi will soon launch the long-awaited new Outlander SUV in the Indian car market. Prior to its launch, the official bookings for the vehicle have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 50,000 across the nation. In fact, Mitsubishi has already started dispatching the SUV to dealerships for customer previews. For people not in the known, the previous Outlander was discontinued in 2014 due to its low sales. In India, the Mitsubishi Outlander will be brought as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit and is likely to be priced between Rs 29 lakh – 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

This 7-seater SUV will rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming Honda CR-V. The new Outlander SUV is based on the new platform and features brand’s new design language. It is equipped with sharp projector headlamps with LED elements, LED daytime running lights and bold grille with dual slats and chrome and aluminium treatment. Other design highlights include side body cladding, alloy wheels and LED rear combination lamps.

In terms of dimensions, the new model is larger than the outgoing unit measuring 4695 mm in length, 1810 mm in width, 1710 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2670 mm. Ground clearance stands at 190 mm. The company will launch the petrol-only model, which will be equipped with a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder MIVEC petrol engine producing 167PS of power and 222Nm of torque. The vehicle gets a CVT automatic gearbox along with paddle shifters.

Talking about features, the new Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a dual-zone fully automatic air conditioner, keyless entry with a push start button, sliding sunroof with anti-pitch function, touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats and multi-functional steering wheel. For passengers’ safety and security, the SUV gets electric parking brake with auto hold function, rain sensing wipers, 7 airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution), Active Stability Control (ASC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and automatic LED headlamps.
