New Mini 3 and 5 door variants launched, price starts at Rs. 31.85 lakh

New five-door MINI

New generation Mini has been launched in India at a gala event organized in Mumbai. Other than the three door body style, the five door variant of the premium hatchback has also been inducted in India. The new mini Mini range is priced at Rs. 31.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and will gun straight against the likes of Mercedes Benz A Class and BMW 1 Series.  Available in Cooper D version only, the five-door version of the hatch is tagged at Rs. 35.2 lakh.

Among various preeminent modifications; a slightly changed design is one of the highlights of the new-gen Mini. While the circular elements present on the inside and outside of the vehicle continue to be the prominent elements of the hatchback. Significant mechanical tweaks have been made including the BMW’s UKL modular front wheel drive platform.

Dimensionally, the all new three-door Mini is larger than the previous version, the hatchback measures 3821 mm long, 1727 mm wide and 1414 mm high. On the other hand, the five-door version of new Mini is 161 mm longer and 11 mm higher than the three-door version.

Both models are powered by a 1.5-litre twin turbo diesel unit that is capable of producing a top power output of 114bhp and 27.5kgm of torque. Power is transmitted to front wheels of the hatchback via a six-speed automatic transmission.
