New MG ZS EV Excite Variant With Bigger Battery Coming Soon

MG Motor India introduced the updated ZS EV SUV earlier this year. The model lineup comes in two variants – Excite and Exclusive – which currently cost Rs 22.00 lakh and Rs 25.88 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom). Now, the company is planning to further expand the electric SUV model lineup with three new variants featuring 50.3kWh battery pack. Interestingly, the entry-level Excite variant which is available with the smaller 44.5kWh battery will get bigger capacity pack. The setup also includes an electric motor that’s good enough for 174bhp and 280Nm. It can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 8.5 seconds. The SUV’s battery can be juiced up via a regular power socket in 18-19 hours and 8.5-9 hours via fast charger. Using the ultrafast DC fast charger, one can charge it up to 80 percent in 60 minutes.

There will be two new Exclusive variants and one of them will be named Ivory. The latter is likely to come with Ivory interior theme. While there is no official word on their feature upgrades, the new 2022 MG ZS EV Exclusive variants are expected to get ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. It incudes features such as emergency auto braking, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, high beam assist, etc.

Prices of the new ZS EV Excite variant have already been announced by the carmaker. Compared to the Tata Nexon EV Max that costs between Rs 18.34 lakh – Rs 19.84 lakh, the base variant of MG’s electric SUV will be Rs 3.7 lakh more expensive. The former comes with a 40.5kWh battery pack with 143bhp electric motor. Tata is offering two versions – a 3.3kW AC charger and a 7.2kW AC charger. It takes 15-16 hours to get fully charged via a 3.3kW AC charger and 5-6 hours via 7.2kW AC charger. The Nexon EV Max can also be charged (up to 80%) by using 50kW DC fast charger in 56 minutes.
