New MG Hector Launching On 5 January 2023; ADAS, 14″ Display

MG Motor India has officially announced to launch the new Hector SUV in our market on January 5, 2023. The new MG Hector will come with significant design changes and all-new interior. The company has already teased the updated SUV, showing the new front design and all-new interior.

The new MG Hector 2023 will receive all-new front fascia, featuring a bigger and bolder looking diamond mesh radiator grille. It will come with the revised split headlight and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on top. The SUV will have a revised front bumper, and a tweaked air-dam and skid plate. The new-gen Hector is likely to receive cosmetic updates in its overall design; however, the overall silhouette will remain the same.

The new MG Hector SUV will come with all-new cabin, featuring a new dashboard finished in leather. The leather cover is also added on the door panels, steering wheel and on gear-shift. It has dual-tone Oak White and Black interior, along with the rich brushed metal finish. The SUV gets a new multi-functional steering wheel, and an all-new digital instrument console. The chrome finish is visible on the air-con vents and on the steering wheel.

The new-gen MG Hector 2023 will come with a largest 14-inch HD portrait touchscreen infotainment system, which is supported with Next-Gen i-SMART technology. The new touchscreen is claimed to offer a responsive, accurate and seamless experience. It comes with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. The SUV comes with a fully digital 7-inch configurable instrument console.

MG Motor India has confirmed that the new touchscreen infotainment system will use MAPPLS and MapMyIndia based navigation instead of the existing Tom Tom-based system. The switchgears placed on the touchscreen in the current model is replaced by a touch-sensitive control on the lower right of the display. The images show automatic gearbox and the central console has wireless phone charging system, automatic parking lock and others. It also gets leather wrapped armrest.

The new MG Hector is likely to come with a Jio e-SIM for connected car features, and a digital key that owner install on the phone. It is expected to feature Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, speed warning, intelligent headlamp control & blind spot detection.

The new Hector SUV is likely to continue to come in two engine options – a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel.  While the former is good for 141bhp and 250Nm, the oil burner produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The petrol engine can also be had with the mild hybrid system. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
