2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport will derive its power from a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine.
Suzuki, the Japanese automaker has released new pictures and details of the long-awaited 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport version. This model is also speculated to make its way to the Indian market; however, Maruti is yet to make an official announcement on the same. The performance oriented Swift is scheduled to make its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It shares most of its design cues from the new generation Swift, which will be launched in the Indian market at the Delhi Auto Expo 2018. The hatchback comes with some unique design elements that give an aggressive look. It comes equipped with bigger radiator grille and black bumper lip spoiler at the front. Other design highlights include new fog lamp assembly, black rocker panels on the side, newly designed alloy wheels, gloss black finish on the rear bumper, etc.
The cabin of the car gets an all-black theme with leather upholstery for steering wheel and sports seats with contrasting red stitching. The new Maruti Swift Sport will be the second performance hatchback from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India, first being the Baleno RS. However, the Swift version will be more powerful than the latter one. The 2018 Maruti Swift Sport will source its power from a 1.4-litre K14C Boosterjet engine, which is likely to be developed at the company’s Manesar plant. This engine is capable of producing 148bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. Transmission choice will include a 6-speed manual unit. For achieving better performance, Maruti might offer stiffened chassis, new suspension setup and sportier springs and dampers on the car. Read – 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift – All You Need To Know
If media reports are to be believed, Maruti could also launch the Swift RS version in the country. This Swift RS version could be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine that also powers the Baleno RS. This engine is capable of producing 100bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
As mentioned above, the new generation Swift Sport will make its world debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. In India, Maruti will first launch the regular Swift hatchback in the country at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo in February. The performance oriented model is likely to be launched by late 2018. Maruti could showcase the hatchback alongside other upcoming cars at Auto Expo 2018. We will update you as soon as MSI reveals launch details of the Swift Sport.
