2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport will derive its power from a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine.
Suzuki unveiled the new-generation Swift hatchback previous month in Japan. The Japanese carmaker is also working on the performance version of the hatchback – Suzuki Swift Sport – that will also make its way to the Indian market. The performance-oriented Swift will have its global debut in the second half of this year. While its official unveiling is months away, the vehicle has already begun testing on foreign land.
The new Maruti Swift Sport will be the second performance hatchback from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India, first will be the Baleno RS. For achieving better performance, Maruti might offer stiffened chassis, new suspension setup and sportier springs and dampers on the car. Read – 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift – All You Need To Know

At the heart of the 2017 Maruti Swift Sport will be a K14C-DITC 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the global Suzuki Vitara SUV. On the SUV, this motor delivers power worth 138.07bhp and 220Nm of torque. Though, Maruti will tune this engine for producing more power. For performing transmission duties, there will be a 6-speed manual transmission.
The 2017 Swift Sport has been designed on Suzuki’s new generation platform that is already used for the Baleno hatchback. The hot hatch wears a sporty body kit that includes revised bumpers, new grille, flared wheel arches, larger alloys, roof rails and roof-mounted spoiler. What further enhance its sporty appearance are sculpted body sides and newly styled C-pillar. Though, the overall dimensions of the Swift Sport remain unchanged.
The cabin of the Swift Sport will be more premium than the regular Swift, thanks to its high quality material and better fit and finish. Features on offer could be SmartPlay infotainment system, leather seats with contrasting stitches, improved switchgear and new steering wheel. The hot hatch will also get a more responsive steering and stiffer suspensions. Safety features such as ABS with EBD and disc brakes will come as standard.
