New Maruti Swift RS With Boosterjet Engine Coming Soon – Spied

The upcoming new Maruti Swift RS will be powered by a 100bhp, 1.0-litre, Boosterjet petrol engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox

We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a performance-oriented version of the Swift hatchback for Indian market. It was speculated that the company will launch the global Swift Sport in India; however, Maruti officials confirmed that the Sport model will be expensive for price sensitive Indian market. Instead, Maruti will launch the sportier Swift RS model which will share mechanics with the Baleno RS.

The Maruti Swift RS has been spotted for the first time in India. Wrapped in black paint, the Swift RS features newly-developed 16-inch alloy wheels. This model is expected to receive aggressive bumper, side skirts and sportier grille. In terms of mechanics, the Swift RS will share engine with the Baleno RS which was launched in 2017. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, Boosterjet, 3-cylinder DOHC, direct-injected, turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 101bhp of power at 5,500rpm along with a peak torque of 150Nm delivered between 1,700 and 4,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Swift RS is expected to get new RS badged upholstery inside the cabin. Most of the features and design will remain identical to the existing car. The Maruti Suzuki Swift RS is expected to be priced around Rs 8 lakh.
