Maruti Suzuki has introduced the AGS (Auto Gear Shift) gearbox on the top-end ZXi and ZDi variants of the new-generation Swift. The AMT technology has been made available with petrol and diesel engine options. While the new 2018 Maruti Swift ZXi AGS variant has been priced at Rs 7.76 lakh, the ZDi+ AGS model costs Rs 8.76 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi).
Earlier Maruti’s AGS transmission was available only on four variants of the hatchback – VXI, ZXI, VDI and ZDI. Commenting on the introduction of the AGS on Swift top-variants, R. S. Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India said, “Swift has always scored high on customers’ expectations. With the latest evolution, the all-new Swift has reached the next level of customer delight. AGS has been very well appreciated by our Swift customers. We had customer feedback seeking convenience of AGS in the high-selling top-end variants. Accordingly, we are now offering AGS in the top-end ZXI+ and ZDI+ variants. This will further strengthen the brand Swift and enhance the popularity of Maruti Suzuki’s acclaimed two-pedal technology.”
Fitting in shoes of its predecessor, the new Maruti Swift 2018 has been generating volume for the company since its launch at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. Interestingly, the hatchback registered total sales of 1 lakh within 145 days of its launch making it fastest to touch the number.
