Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on an all-new compact crossover, which will be positioned below the next-gen Vitara Brezza. The new crossover is rumoured to be positioned against the likes of the Tata Nexon and the upcoming Nissan Magnite and the Renault HBC Kiger.

The new Maruti Suzuki compact crossover is expected to be launched in the second half of 2022. Before this crossover, MSIL will introduce the next-gen Vitara Brezza in the first half of 2022 and an all-new mid-sized SUV in the mid-and second half of 2022. The new mid-sized SUV is rumoured to be based on the Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform that also underpins the Raize and the Daihatsu Rocky compact SUVs.

Details about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki compact crossover are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be based on the Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform. The crossover along with the next-gen Brezza and the mid-sized SUV could be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new crossover is likely to receive a petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system for higher fuel efficiency.

Maruti Suzuki is also readying a 5-door Jimny, which is rumoured to be based on the Toyota Raize’s platform. The locally developed Jimny is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2023; however, Maruti could launch the CKD version of the 3-door Jimny in India in 2021.

Suzuki and Toyota JV is also readying an all-new mid-sized C-segment MPV, which will be positioned between the Ertiga and the Innova in terms of size and pricing. This MPV will directly rival the Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming MPVs from Hyundai and Kia Motors. The new MPV is reportedly to be launched in the second half of 2021. Before this MPV, MSIL will launch the next-gen Celerio and the Alto entry-level cars in India.
