While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the name and details of the small car, it is likely to be based on the Maruti Concept Future S concept that broke cover at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The concept previews the brand’s new design language with SUV-ish stance. The carmaker claims that the Future S will be a “design evolution” in terms of proportions, body sculpting and combining bold designs and shades.

After the Maruti Y1K, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will introduce the new-generation WagonR and Alto hatchbacks. The latter one is likely to hit showrooms by 2021. In fiscal year 2017-18, the Maruti Suzuki Alto registered sales of 258,539 units accounting 6.9 per cent growth.

The new-generation Maruti Alto and WagonR will underpin Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that will make both the vehicles lighter and fuel efficient than their existing models. The new architecture will also enhance the safety quotient of the cars.
