New Maruti Ertiga Beats Innova Crysta & Marazzo To Become India’s Top Selling MPV

Maruti Suzuki dispatched 7,155 units the new Ertiga in December, 2018.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) introduced the second-generation Ertiga MPV in November, 2018. The seven-seater MPV has received over 60,000 bookings so far and commands a waiting period of up to 5 months. In December 2018, the new Maruti Ertiga has outsold both its arch rivals – Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra Marrazo.

Last month, the Indo-Japanese carmaker dispatched 7,155 units the new Maruti Ertiga to its dealers across the nation. The Innova Crysta and Marazzo, on the other hand, registered total sales of 6,551 units and 3,206 units respectively.

Talking to ET Auto, N Raja, the Deputy Managing Director at Toyota Kirloskar Motors confirmed that the Toyota Innova Crysta received over 11,000 bookings in month of December 2018, which is almost 50% higher than the average monthly orders over the last calendar year. With such high figures, the premium MPV helped the Japanese carmaker gain business of over Rs 2,2000 crore in a single month (December, 2018). Just so you know, Toyota had announced its yearly ‘Remember December’ campaign that includes discounts and other year-end benefits on select models. The Mahindra Marazzo, the premium 7-seater MPV from the home-grown carmaker, managed to garner an average monthly sales of 3,000 – 4,000 units. Currently, the MPV carline is available with diesel and manual gearbox combination only. The carmaker has confirmed that it will bring in the petrol and automatic variants of the Marazzo before April, 2020.
