Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new Brezza SUV on June 30, 2022. It was speculated that the CNG version of the SUV will be launched alongside the petrol derivative. However, the company has confirmed that the new Maruti Brezza CNG will be launched at a later date. Maruti Suzuki currently has a total pending order book accounting for 3.15 lakh cars including 1.30 lakh CNG cars.
For people not in the know, Maruti Suzuki currently has 9 models with factory-fitted CNG kit. Moreover, the new Maruti Brezza will come with a waiting period of 2 months as the outgoing model already has bookings of 20,000 units. MSIL is currently producing 10,000 Brezza SUVs per month. The company aims to increase the production to meet the rising demand.
Speaking to ET Auto, Shashank Srivastava, Sr Executive Director – Marketing & Sales, MSIL said, “The problem is that we have not been able to supply the pending bookings for CNG models. We had planned to launch more models with CNG, but we have temporarily taken a pause because we have not been able to get the supply in models where we already have CNG. So once the supply becomes better, we can introduce the new Brezza CNG”.
2022 Maruti Brezza – Details
The new Brezza will be offered in 4 trim levels – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi- with 3 automatic and 4 manual variants. The new model is reportedly to be offered with over 45 exterior, interior and mechanical updates. It will come with a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro interface and wireless connectivity. The SUV will also get Suzuki Connect with over 40 connected features.
The new SUV gets Head-Up-Display or HUD, cooled glove box, rear wiper, type A & C rear fast charger USB ports, cruise control, automatic AC unit, 6 airbags, rear parking camera and a 360 degree camera. The SUV will also get hill hold assist, electronic stability program with roll over mitigation and rear parking camera.
The top-spec model will have dual LED projector headlamps with floating DRLs, auto headlamps with Follow-Me-Home & Lead-Me-to-Vehicle feature, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, etc. It will be powered by a new K15C Smart Hybrid petrol engine with Dualjet and Dual VVT technology. Transmission choices will include a new 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and a 5-speed manual unit. The Brezza CNG will get the same powertrain with a factory-fitted CNG kit. This engine is likely to produce around 87bhp of power and 121Nm of torque. It will only be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
