2018 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift To Launch In April – Report

2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift is reported to come with a more powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Mahindra’s highly-popular SUV – XUV500 is due for an update in India. According to a latest report, the carmaker will roll out the XUV500 facelift sometime in April, 2018. The SUV’s new model, which has been on test for a long time, will see significant cosmetic updates especially at the front fascia.

Upfront, the SUV is likely to get a new grille, revised bumper and headlamps with LED DRLs. It’s the side profile that will witness minimal changes including newly-designed alloy wheels and slightly revised door cladding. Interior will be packed with new comfort and connectivity features. Mahindra might offer a new touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other upgrades could include new steering wheel, slightly updated instrument panel and centre console, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard, etc.

While the engine details of the new Mahindra XUV500 will be revealed near launch, it’s reported to use a more powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine. The new oil burner will deliver two power outputs – 170bhp with 350Nm and 140bhp with 320Nm. Besides launching the updated XUV500, the home-grown carmaker will introduce the two new models – Mahindra U321 MPV and Mahindra S201 compact SUV. The former will be positioned against the segment leader – Toyota Innova Crysta and the latter one will take on the Hyundai Creta. The other new models that are in the pipeline include Mahindra Rexton 7-seater SUV and Mahindra Aero.
