New Mahindra XUV500: Big Panoramic Sunroof, Launch, Interior Details

The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The production version of the new model is likely to be revealed in February 2021, while launch is expected in March-April. Not just new XUV500, Mahindra will also introduce the new generation Scorpio SUV in the second quarter of 2021 – most probably in June.

Huge Panoramic Sunroof

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come equipped with a factory-fitted panoramic sunroof, which was missing in the previous model. The outgoing model offers a smaller sunroof. The new model will have panoramic sunroof, which covers the complete roof.

Launch By March-April 2021

Upcoming Cars Under 20 Lakhs

The new generation Mahindra XUV500 will be launched in the end of March or early April 2021. Production of the SUV is likely to commence soon. Bookings for the new XUV500 is expected to begin in March 2021.

Mercedes-like Touchscreen

The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will take a big leap in terms of design and features. The SUV will feature Mercedes-Benz inspired instrument panel and touchscreen infotainment system. The spy images confirm that the dashboard will accommodate a single-piece wide display that has touchscreen infotainment system and instrument console; however, this layout will be restricted on the top-end model. The infotainment unit will be compatible with smartphone connectivity along with connected car technology. The SUV is expected to be offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations.

ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System)

The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will come equipped with ADAS for active driver assistance features. The company has joined hands with South Korean Mando company to source ADAS. The company sourced front radar and camera for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). The radar will monitor driving parameters such as speed, acceleration and proximity of the vehicle to obstacles; and send these information to AEB driver assistance system. The SUV will also receive Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist.

Top-End Features

The new XUV500 will come equipped with high-end features like LED lighting system, climate control, powered front seats, ventilated seats, cruise control, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, ADAS, connected car technology, wireless charging, leather upholstery, etc. For safety and security, the SUV will offer multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, Hill launch assist, etc.

Powerful Engines

The new Mahindra XUV500 will receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the new Thar. However, this engine will be tuned to produce up to 190bhp of power and over 350Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel version will receive a new 2.2-litre turbocharged unit that will produce around 180bhp of power.  Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
